The Moulin Hotel
A Haven of Highland Hospitality since 1695 ... The Moulin Hotel encompasses a welcoming world of peace, tranquillity and traditional Scottish hospitality. Perfectly sited in the village square of Moulin, an ancient Scottish waypoint, the hotel is just 3/4 of a mile from the bustling town of Pitlochry. Known as the Gateway to the Highlands, Pitlochry makes a perfect base for touring Central and Highland Scotland. With the A9 passing close by and being at a traditional crossroads, it is possible to travel quickly to both east and west coasts, and the Cairngorms, Speyside, Fife and Edinburgh are all within easy reach.
The Moulin Hotel offers an appealing blend of traditional Highland hospitality in an old world setting overlaid by the comforts and service of a modern hotel. Our 17 bedrooms have been refurbished to include every amenity.
The oldest part of the hotel is the original Moulin Inn. First opened in 1695 - fifty years before the '45 Jacobite Rebellion - the Moulin Inn remains a centre of hospitality and comfort, a popular venue for a chat, home-brewed beer and local fayre. With two log fires and lots of cozy nooks, you'll be hard pressed to find a better example of a traditional Scottish pub.
The Moulin Hotel Brewery was established by hotelier, Chris Tomlinson, in the summer of 1995, partly to celebrate the Moulin Hotel's 300th aniversary. A local brewery had formerly been in operation in Moulin until the early 19th century.
"Brewing our own beer was a way of enhancing the heritage of the hotel," says Chris. "It was a case of going back to the days when inns brewed ale for their own consumption."
